House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) dropped his optimistic tone to drop a dollop of reality Thursday: “I’m not thinking” the Senate funding bills will pass, he said.

The Democrats’ House vote counter said that he’s still “hopeful” that his expectations will be proven wrong in the other chamber, but sees it as improbable.

Democrats probably won’t pass the bill that is essentially a version of President Donald Trump’s plan, which would trade some DACA protections for wall funding. Republicans likely won’t defect from the President to pass the Democratic bill which would reopen the government and keep border security at its current funding levels.
