Rep. Justin Amash (I-MI), who left the Republican Party in an op-ed on Independence Day, revealed over the weekend that many “high level” Republican officials are supportive of impeaching President Trump. They just don’t want to talk about it publicly.

During an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday, Amash said his former colleagues who are tight-lipped about their support for impeachment are just hurting the country.

When I was discussing impeachment, I had fellow colleagues and other Republicans, high-level officials contacting me saying, ‘thank you for what you are doing.’ So there are a lot of Republicans out there saying these things privately but they’re not saying it publicly,” he said. “And I think that is a problem for our country. It is a problem for the Republican Party. It is a problem for the Democratic Party when people aren’t allowed to speak out.”

  1. History will remember Amash and the 2nd GOP’er to go public with impeachment. The 3rd will get all the grief and none of the glory.

    Who’s next?

  2. A direct result of the Gerrymander/Primary
When the only people that can take you out are members of your own party , it’s a predictable result
Also no balls, it’s a predictable result

  3. It bears repeating that Amash also told Tapper RE Pelosi:

“From a principled moral position she is making a mistake. From a strategic position she is making a mistake. If she believes as I do that there’s impeachable conduct in [the Mueller report], then she should say so. She should tell the American people we’re going to move forward with impeachment hearings and potentially articles of impeachment.”

    He’s right.

  4. Closet patriots, unite!

I mean, it’s not like they could go public, change the debate, and actually help correct the worst mistake this country has made since letting Tony Danza host Memorial Day on the Mall.
