For those of you curious as to how a lobbyist could earn more from a lobbying firm the year after he left the firm than the year before, behold! Jeffrey Shockey’s financial disclosure forms. These were the documents released by Shockey’s lawyers on Friday afternoon. Why Friday afternoon? Because they would have come to light later this week when the financial disclosure forms for all Hill staffers are released, but you always release bad news on a Friday afternoon if you can.

Attached to his New Employee Disclosure Statement, the document Shockey filed when he came to work for Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-CA), is a letter detailing the severance agreement between Shockey and the firm.

And on his 2005 statement, you can see his disclosure of the $1,962,260 he was paid by his old firm as a “Buy-Out.”

And here is the press release from Rep. Lewis’ office announcing Shockey’s hiring during happier days.
