Rudy Giuliani is heading to Ukraine on a mission to try to convince that country’s leaders to launch investigations that could prove politically useful for President Trump, the New York Times reported Thursday.

Giuliani is reportedly in search of information regarding how the investigation into the 2016 Trump campaign’s possible collusion with Russia “really” began, as well as potentially damaging leads on former Vice President Joe Biden.

“We’re not meddling in an election, we’re meddling in an investigation, which we have a right to do,” Giuliani told the newspaper.

“There’s nothing illegal about it,” he continued. “Somebody could say it’s improper. And this isn’t foreign policy — I’m asking them to do an investigation that they’re doing already and that other people are telling them to stop. And I’m going to give them reasons why they shouldn’t stop it because that information will be very, very helpful to my client, and may turn out to be helpful to my government.”

Trump and his allies have maintained that his campaign was the victim of a so-called attempted coup by the “deep state” that supposedly saw the FBI spy on his campaign.

The Times reports that the former New York City mayor turned personal lawyer to the President is collaborating with a “small group” of Trumpworld denizens to find information that would discredit the Mueller probe, “undermine the case” against former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort, and hurt Biden.

In recent weeks, bizarre allegations have cropped up about Biden using his office to stop an investigation into the appointment of his son on the board of a Ukrainian gas firm. There is little to no evidence to support that Biden unduly pressured the Ukrainian government to end the probe. Instead, the new accusations appear to be an effort by Giuliani to have Kyiv — and potentially Washington — probe the Democratic presidential candidate.

  1. To save the Trump campaign money, Rudy will be providing his own air transport.

  2. Well, no one can deny that this is what they’re doing. The question is, when Trump is cheating out in the open for everyone to see, will people care? In other words, will this strategy help or hurt his campaign? I guess we’ll see.

  3. “We’re not meddling in an election, we’re meddling in an investigation, which we have a right to do,” Giuliani told the newspaper.

Isn't that the very definition of obstruction?
  4. Shouldn’t he investigate the investigators first?
