“The Nightly Show” suspended its coverage of the GOP presidential race on Wednesday night for host Larry Wilmore to explore the biggest threat to the campaign of current Democratic presidential frontrunner Hillary Clinton: Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
A poll released Tuesday showed Sanders pulling ahead of the former secretary of state for the first time among likely Democratic primary voters in New Hampshire, the country’s first primary.
“Oh my God! Oh no! Is this happening again? A candidate of passion is about to overtake Hillary? She’s about to get Obama’d by an old white man,” Wilmore said. “It is one thing for a cool brother to just burst into the scene and all that brotherness just fills out on the campaign trail. That’s just science. But when people are more inspired by a guy who looks like the about-to-retire dean of students at Oberlin, I gotta ask: What the hell is going on?”
But Wilmore had critiques for Sanders’ campaign.
“Also keeping it at 100, based on the demographics, if Bernie Sanders rallies were a Ben & Jerry’s ice cream flavor, it would be ‘Nilla, Please,’ ” Wilmore said. “The chocolate is in there but you gotta eat a lot of vanilla to get there.”

If the left wing of the Democratic party is foolish enough to force the party down this road they deserve what they get, but the rest of us do not.
Funny how liberals like to gleefully declare that the GOP base–old white men–is dying, but when it’s on their turf, it’s a wonderful, thing. It’s okay for scores and scores of white, upper-middle-class liberals to nod thoughtfully at a Bernie Sanders rally and for the outfits like Daily Kos and Think Progress to beam with pride and declare Clinton “in deep trouble” (more so because of it feeling anti-Clinton than anything else, but that’s another story…), but a GOP rally with the same demographic, and it’s “death throes” and “pathetic.”
Get ready, EmoProgs, for 2000 AND 2008 all over again.
When you consider Sander’s history for progressive issues and stances on current issues, it’s totally NOT an “old white guy” thing. It’s the crazy paranoid, racist fox-bots, old, young, male or female that are the enemies to progress and the shills for a corporate controlled country that are most disconcerting to liberals and progressives.
