WATCH LIVE: Obama To Address Brussels Attack In Speech In Cuba

The thing I admire so much about Obama when he makes a speech to a country like Cuba is that he doesn’t hide from the difficulties and differences we once had or still have. He doesn’t hide from the long legacy of estrangement and how that came about. He’s also able to make that wonderful connection with all the things we have in common and to point to numerous parallels we both share with one another. He is not only our best President is so many years in this country but he continues to be our best cultural ambassador and resource to building bridges with countries such as Cuba. His honesty and straightforward approach to tackling the dual ideologies is just so impressive.

As a sidenote: I have no fucking idea why in the hell the cable news networks feel it necessary to show a split screen with what happened in Brussels. Though tragic and awful as it is, I suspect they’ll continue to give that the constant attention and reporting on the rest of the day. The only reason I see them doing that is to diminish the work that Obama has done that has led to this momentous occasion in normalizing relations with Cuba…because if they can take a potshot at this President…you just know they will.

Edit to add: Btw, I just noticed Faux Nooze isn’t even bothering to cover President Obama’s momentous speech to Cuba today, even though it only took us 88 fucking years to get here. To them, its still no big thing. Un-fucking-believable. They are shameless.
