Donald Trump is projected to win the Maryland GOP primary Tuesday. His win was projected by at 8:00 p.m. ET, when the polls closed.

Recent polls showed Trump had a healthy lead over his rivals in Maryland, even as the state’s governor, Republican Larry Hogan, had expressed his disapproval over the real estate mogul. Trump hosted a rally in Maryland earlier this week. The state has 38 delegates up for grabs: 14 allocated to the winner statewide and 24 based on winner of each of Maryland’s eight congressional districts.

It was not anticipated that the alliance announced by the Ted Cruz and John Kasich campaigns regarding primaries later in the calendar would have much of an effect on Maryland’s primary or any other of Tuesday’s races.
