Donald Trump’s two adult sons are “not involved” in an upcoming charity event hosted by a non-profit where they are registered as directors, according to a spokesperson for the President-elect.

“The Opening Day event and details that have been reported are merely initial concepts that have not been approved or pursued by the Trump family,” Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks said in a Tuesday statement. “Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are avid outdoorsman and supporters of conservation efforts, which align with the goals of this event, however they are not involved in any capacity.”

Hicks’ comments follow a Center for Public Integrity report that found the “Opening Day Event” scheduled for inauguration weekend would be hosted by the Opening Day Foundation, a nonprofit that was incorporated in Texas just last week. Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump are two of the four registered directors of the foundation, and were also listed as “honorary co-chairmen” of the charity event on an invitation obtained by TMZ.

Donors who give $250,000 or more would have the opportunity to meet with Trump, and those who donate $500,000 or more would get a “multi-day hunting and/or fishing excursion” with Trump’s adult sons, according to that draft invitation.

Event organizers have thus far declined to confirm the hunting trip offers to TPM. Hicks told the Wall Street Journal that the President-elect is “not aware of the event or the details pertaining to” it, and did not respond to the newspaper’s question about his plans to attend.

  1. Donald Trump’s two adult sons are “not involved” in an upcoming charity event hosted by a non-profit where they are registered as directors [and offered as “prizes”], according to a spokesperson for the President-elect.

    That dog won’t hunt.

(How appropriate of a comment is that?)

And don’t forget: If it’s done in the open it’s NOT a conflict of interest.

  2. So to sum this up:
There was no real plan; just an idea knocked around
The sons Uday and Qusay arent involved even though they are mentioned as the prizes for the auction/event
and even though he finds time to tweet about an SNL episode or lie and say Bill Clinton has never won anything, President Pepe doesn’t know anything about this event.

    Ummkay.

    Four years y’all.

    /sigh

  3. Bull. You don’t advertise, ask donors to pony up to be with the ‘boys’ and then pretend they aren’t involved. Do you HONESTLY think you can keep up this charade for 4 years???

  4. Avatar for cd cd says:

We could all kick in for Dick Cheney to win, at least then someone would end up getting shot in the face

  5. Re-upping this from those carefree days when we were laughing at Trump pretending he wasn’t the “publicist” “John Barron” and we said God, that guy’s crazy and an outrageous liar also too, good thing he’ll never be President:
