Trump Camp Manages To Give A Couple Quick Responses To DNC Speeches

Despite running a notoriously small, non-traditional campaign, Donald Trump’s team managed to issue a couple of quick responses to speeches delivered at the Democratic National Convention shortly after they were delivered.

Leon Panetta said Trump would be an “unstable” choice for the White House that would give the country “unstable” leadership, saying he “gets his foreign policy experience from watching TV and running the Miss Universe pageant.”

Panetta said Trump’s call earlier in the day for Russia to release Hillary Clinton’s emails if it has them was “inconceivable.” Trump later clarified that he wanted Russia to give the emails to the FBI.

Stephen Miller, Trump’s senior advisor, in a statement released Wednesday, criticized Panetta’s own foreign policy:

It is alarming that Leon Panetta would, through his silence, excuse Hillary Clinton’s enablement of foreign espionage with her illegal email scheme and her corrupt decision to then destroy those emails and dissemble her ‘private’ server to hide her crimes from the public and authorities. He better than most should know how many lives she put at risk. At the same time, Panetta ignored Hillary Clinton’s rush to war in the Middle East and her deadly and calamitous invasion of Libya which further proves her a reckless risk too grave for any American family.

Trump also seemingly wanted to criticize the speech former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg delivered, in which he called Trump a “con man” and critiqued Trump’s record of bankruptcies and lawsuits filed by former employees who claimed they weren’t paid.

After Bloomberg’s speech, Trump’s campaign sent out excerpts of a Fox News op-ed titled, “Why Michael Bloomberg’s Latest Push For Gun Control Is All Wrong” that argued Bloomberg was spending too much money to advocate for gun control.

Miller again released a statement calling the third night of the convention a “sad” one for the Democratic Party. Here’s what he had to say in full:

Tonight was a sad night for the Democratic Party. They offered no solutions for the problems facing America – in fact, they pretended those problems didn’t even exist. They described a vision of America that doesn’t exist for most Americans, including the seventy percent of Americans who think our country is on the wrong track. Never has a party been so disconnected from what is happening in our world.

Instead of dealing with reality, they spoke in cheap, petty terms beneath the dignity of a convention. Their entire message could be summed up as: things are perfect, let’s not change a single thing. So they resorted to the politics of fear, trying to convince Americans not to vote for change — they spoke on behalf of the big banks and the big elites, not on behalf of suffering Americans. They want to keep the system rigged for their donors. Period. Rigged trade deals, a rigged economy, and open borders that benefit the few at the expense of the many.

Our campaign offers a bold, exciting, detailed vision for the future. Tonight, the Democrats’ offered only more rewards for the rich, powerful and well-connected, and more angry, demeaning, sniping attacks against all decent Americans who want change for their families.
