Tom Smith, a wealthy businessman in the coal industry, will challenge Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) in the general election after winning his party’s primary, the AP reports. Casey is generally considered a relatively strong incumbent and Smith, who prevailed over what was considered a weak field, will begin the race as a longshot contender.
