Newly minted Democratic National Committee chair Tom Perez said Sunday that unity in his party “is Donald Trump’s greatest nightmare.”

President Donald Trump has “governed from the far right in everything he’s done,” Perez told NBC News’ Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press.”

“He hasn’t proposed anything but chaos and carnage,” he said. “We’ve seen no evidence, Chuck, of anything constructive from this President.”

Asked about the future of the Democratic Party, Perez said that it “will be in every zipcode.”

“I heard from rural America that the Democratic Party hasn’t been there for us recently,” Perez said. “We also have to redefine our mission.”

He said that the Democratic party is putting “values into action.”

“Our unity is our greatest strength,” Perez said. “And frankly our unity is Donald Trump’s greatest nightmare.”
