The cover of Time magazine’s Sept. 1 issue featured a moving image of the continuing unrest in Ferguson, Mo.
The photo shows a kneeling figure with raised arms, a gesture adopted by the protestors in Ferguson to show they mean no threat, backlit by bright lights.
Here’s the cover:
Excellent example of photo journalism. Sometimes words aren’t needed.
Any word on who took the photo? The folks out there taking pictures have been putting themselves in the line of fire - sometimes literally - and deserve credit.
Well done.
“Chaos” is too loaded a term. The protests were orderly; the chaos was caused by police action and the decision to deploy tear gas, concussion grenades and to move giant war machines into the crowd.
Terms like ‘riot’ ‘chaos’ and ‘violence’ none of which characterize the actual demonstrators are just lazy journalism.
