Fox News host Sean Hannity is one of Jon Stewart’s favorite targets. So on Wednesday Stewart pounced on Hannity’s criticism of New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D), who met with rapper Jay Z in the aftermath of the Eric Garner grand jury decision.
Last week, Hannity teased his segment on the Cuomo-Shawn Carter summit by describing the rapper as “A guy that admits that he sold crack and was a drug dealer and actually shot somebody.”
“F*ck man, I don’t even know what to do here,” Stewart said before “The Daily Show” correspondent Jessica Williams appeared at his side.
She thought it was ironic that a network that prides itself on preaching responsibility and self-improvement to the black community would put down a man who checks all their boxes for a black role model: a good job, a stable marriage and pants that actually stay up.
“Jay Z is the guy they keep saying they want all other black guys to be,” Williams said. “But to them, he’s still just a crack dealer.”
Williams said that since Fox News has decided “people must be labelled based on the worst thing they’ve ever done,” the network should put up chyrons branding Rush Limbaugh a “prescription drug addict” and Ted Nugent a “pants-sh**ting draft dodgy public official threatening statutory rape advocate.”
“Fox News has 99 problems, but Jay Z ain’t one,” she said.
