Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) called Tuesday night for Republicans to coalesce around his campaign for any chance of defeating frontrunner Donald Trump for the party’s nomination.
By the time he went on stage in Houston, Texas, Cruz hadn’t won any Tuesday primary contests, but Trump had tallied decisive victories in three states, knocking Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) out of the race.
“Starting tomorrow morning, every Republican has a clear choice. Only two campaigns have a plausible path to the nomination,” Cruz said. “Nobody else has any mathematical possibility whatsoever. Only one campaign has beaten Donald Trump over and over and over again.”
Cruz’s colleagues in the Senate have been slow to back his campaign. Utah Sen. Mike Lee became Cruz’s first endorsement from a sitting senator just last week.
Riiiiight.
And you also beat Trump in being an asshole of epic proportion.
So there’s that.
Here’s my hero Kurt Vonnegut’s explanation and depiction of you.
“If you squint, I just might be less detestable than the other guy” - the Ted Cruz plan to success.
Mr Reince may have to chew off his foot to get out of this trap.
