White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is still under audit and wouldn’t say whether Trump will release his taxes for the current year.

“Will the President commit to releasing his tax returns for this year and is he still under audit for his past returns?” NBC News’ Hallie Jackson asked Spicer during his daily briefing.

“My understanding is he’s still under audit and I’ll follow up on the question,” Spicer replied.

Throughout his presidential campaign, Trump claimed that he could not release his tax returns because of an ongoing audit.

In September 2016, Trump admitted that he could release his taxes at any time but implied he saw no political advantage to doing so.

In January, White House senior adviser Kellyanne Conway said that Trump does not plan to release his tax returns.

“The White House response is that he’s not going to release his tax returns,” she said. “We litigated this all through the election. People didn’t care.”

Some people are saying it’s the translation from Cyrillic that’s holding this up.

  2. But he can’t produce the letter confirming the audit because 1) he’s so upset about the (sick) Obama wiretaps, 2) one of the 14 billion people that attended his inauguration stole it, or 3) Vladimir won’t give him a copy.

  3. He’ll only release them after a subpoena. And then, only after a lengthy court fight.

must be some really shady shit in those tax returns for it to take this long to audit

bullshit excuse, we need a chorus of “RELEASE THE TAXES”

tRUmp may fail to understand that not releasing the taxes is keeping a dark cloud of suspicion over him, must be some really nasty stuff for him not to release
