Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) may not be in Washington for a crucial Senate vote on President Obama’s jobs bill which is scheduled for Tuesday evening. Shaheen is slated to accept the “New Englander of the Year” award at a ceremony in Boston, presented by the New England council. While the jobs bill isn’t expected to garner the 60 votes necessary for passage, the number of Democrats that line up to support it — or more importantly how many fail to line up — will be the difference between whether the party can come out of the vote with a clear political message against an “obstructionist” GOP minority.
