The top staffer for state Sen. Chris McDaniel’s (R-MS) campaign who was part of the trio of McDaniel supporters that went to the Hinds County courthouse on election night wrote earlier in the night that the election would come down to Hinds County.

The staffer was McDaniel coalitions director Scott Brewster (pictured, bottom right), he is one of three people the Hinds County Sheriffs Department is investigating for getting into the courthouse, where the ballots are kept, after the building was closed late on election night.

“Going to come down to Hinds county. We will win the night but might be runoff,” Brewster wrote in one Facebook comment thread at 11:16 p.m. on Tuesday night.

In Tuesday’s GOP primary, Hinds County went for Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS), who McDaniel is challenging, 65.7 percent to 33.8 percent.

The other two people who the sheriff’s office said were at the courthouse and got locked in were Central Mississippi Tea Party President Janis Lane and McDaniel supporter Rob Chambers. It’s unclear exactly when the trio went to the courthouse, but according to another county election official, who is related to Sen. Cochran, everyone had left the courthouse by 11:30 p.m. CT. One witness, a local Republican party official, told TPM Lane called at 2 a.m. to help her get out of the building.

“Friends, thank you for all your messages and support,” Brewster also posted on Facebook at 12:06 p.m. on Wednesday. “I didn’t get until 4 this morning. I’ll do my best to get back to everyone today. All of your encouragement has given our campaign family such positive energy. Thanks!!!”

  1. 2014 is really shaping up to be a disaster for GOP -
But it really is 2016 Republican squealing is all about.
They are projecting out 2 1/2 years - to Nov 2016.

They were supposed to have all their ducks in a row here.

Cotton in Arkansas - down in flames
McConnell at great risk of losing
Iowa GOP supporting a self proclaimed “Hog castrator”
Georgia at risk because of TeaParty
Michigan seat questionable (Land doesn’t support auto bailout !)
    Brown floundering in NH
Now Mississippi at least having a ton money thrown at it by the GOP

    But then in 2016
23 Republican seats being defended - 15 in Purple states
to only 10 Dem seats - 7 which are safe blue states

    Wake up GOP -
    it’s over

    Hillary/Warren
    Hillary/Castro
will have Presidency/filibuster proof Senate/and Majority House

I hope everyone realizes this is what all the GOP hand wringing is about - it’s projected to the pain 2years 6months from now.
    It’s not about this Nov. 2014 - it’s about Nov. 2016

    Proceed Governor -
all over but the Iowa Hog GOP Castration squealing till 2016

  2. Can you imagine what 2016 will be like? The Dems. better have their shit together when time comes because voter fraud will be in full force by Republicans.

  3. This one even looks like a nut case. He must have posted from inside the building??

  4. Avatar for meri meri says:

Hog Castrator - Isn’t that a way of telling farm folk “I’m one of you”? Or is there a thing going on I missed?
