Sam Nunberg, a former adviser to Donald Trump’s presidential campaign, has written an apology letter to Rev. Al Sharpton for racially charged Facebook posts about the civil rights leader’s daughter, according to The Daily Caller.

“I am writing regarding a Facebook post that was reportedly posted to my account in 2007, more than eight years ago,” he began in his letter, according to the report. “I have no memory of writing it and am not saying I did. The post however allegedly said a disgusting, inexcusable reference to your daughter.”

Nunberg was fired over the weekend for the Facebook posts. Nunberg reportedly posted “meeting Rev. Sharpton, no joke – he will tell him that his daughter is N—-!” on Facebook.

“I know you are a man of God who believes in forgiveness and redemption,” Nunberg continued in the letter, according to the Daily Caller. “Even though it was eight years ago and I have no recollection of writing such thing, it was on my account and therefore I apologize. I humbly ask for your forgiveness.”
