The Twitter account for the Russian embassy in the United Kingdom, @RussianEmbassy, has taken some pretty sharp and mocking jabs at the United States in recent weeks, a move characteristic of social media accounts run by and associated with Putin’s government.

Most recently, it took aim Thursday at claims by U.S. intelligence officers that Russian-backed hackers attempted to affect the election in Donald Trump’s favor by stealing emails from Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta, the Democratic National Committee and others.
