Mitt and Ann Romney maintain that they believed they would be victorious heading into Election Day in November, they said during an interview that aired on “Fox News Sunday,” their first interview since the election.
“My heart said we were gonna win,” Romney said. But by 8 p.m. or 9 p.m. that night, as results began to come in, Romney said it became clear that they had not won.
Ann Romney said they had been “blindsided” by the passion of voters on the other side.
“We certainly had the passion coming from our side,” she said. “And I don’t think they were as aware of the passion that was coming from the other side. We — we were a little blindsided by that.”
