Mitt Romney’s campaign is counting on Newt Gingrich’s goal of a permanent lunar colony by 2020, a hit on Florida’s NASA-heavy Space Coast, to play less well with Nevada voters.
In a press release titled “NEWT PROMISED FLORIDIANS THE MOON – WILL HE PROMISE STARDUST FOR NEVADANS?” Romney’s team is challenging Newt to keep up his space talk beyond Florida.
“Newt Gingrich has made expensive promises in every early-voting state,“ Romney spokesman Ryan Williams said in a statement. “This shouldn’t come as a surprise – it is exactly what he did as Speaker, handing out earmarks as political favors. It’s just more politics as usual and fiscal recklessness from a Washington insider. Expensive and empty promises won’t help Nevadans who are suffering under dire economic conditions.”
