Former Rep. Rick Renzi (R-AZ) wants a judge to grant him an extension on his date to report to prison, the Associated Press reported Wednesday.

The former congressman, convicted on charges of public corruption and money laundering, was due to report to prison on Monday to serve a three-year sentence. But his lawyers have asked that Renzi not be required to report until Jan. 13 so that the judge may rule on his request to remain free on bail pending his appeal, according to the AP.

Renzi represented Arizona’s 1st congressional district from 2003 to 2009.
