The federal probe into the finances of former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. (D-IL) has spawned a separate investigation into the finances of his wife, former Chicago Ald. Sandi Jackson, The Chicago Sun-Times reported on Monday.
From the Sun-Times:
Included in the scrutiny of Sandi Jackson, who resigned from her 7th Ward aldermanic position last month, is her access and use of her husband’s congressional campaign money, including credit card charges, as well as the movement of money from one account to another, sources say.
According to the paper, a decision could be made in Jackson Jr.’s case within a month. It is unclear how or if the Sandi Jackson investigation would affect the timing of the negotiations in her husband’s case.
“They are trying to sort it out right now and trying to figure out exactly what to do with her,” a source told the paper.
