Calling all hunting aficionados with a few hundred thousand dollars to spare.
Well-heeled supporters of the President-elect will have the opportunity to go hunting with Donald Trump’s adult sons in exchange for spending $500,000 or more on a post-inauguration event in his honor, according to a report from TMZ.
TMZ on Friday published what it said was a draft invitation for a Jan. 21 reception at the Walter Washington Convention Center in downtown Washington, D.C. that offers some wildlife-themed packages to donors, who are encouraged to dress in “camouflage and cufflinks.”
According to that document, “Bald eagle” supporters who spend $1 million will receive a private reception and photo opportunity with the President-elect, as well as a “multi-day hunting and/or fishing excursion for 4 guests with Donald Trump. Jr. and/or Eric Trump” and a slew of other prizes. Second-tier “Grizzly bear” donors are also offered access to a private reception with Trump and a hunting trip with his sons, who are well-known for their love of hunting big game like elephants and leopards.
Leslie Coppler, a spokeswoman for the McIntosh Company, which is organizing the event, confirmed Monday to TPM that the “opening day” event would be held at the Washington Convention Center on the date listed on the invitation published by TMZ. She declined to confirm the reported hunting trip offers, saying that more details would be released in the next few days.
A Trump spokeswoman and the Trump transition team did not respond to TPM’s requests for comment.
The Trump family has been accused of auctioning off access before, raising serious conflicts of interest before the President-elect has even been sworn in.
Last week, an auction offering a thirty-minute coffee date with Ivanka Trump was abruptly canceled after ethics experts questioned the appropriateness of the fundraiser. Several businessmen had told The New York Times that they put in bids for the meet-and-greet, which was valued at $50,000, to get access to her father’s incoming administration. An organization listed as Go Hydrogen had posted the highest bid of $77,888 before the auction was canceled.
The President-elect recently stated plans to turn management of his company over to Donald Jr. and Eric, while Ivanka and her husband, Jared Kushner, reportedly plan to move to Washington, D.C. and are being considered for advisory roles in the White House.
