Sen. Rand Paul responded to a suggestive cover photo published by The New Republic that showed the Kentucky Republican with his fingers crossed on Tuesday by posting a poll on his Facebook page soliciting tongue-in-cheek answers from his supporters.

The top response at the time of this article’s posting on why he crossed his fingers was: “He had just said he wasn’t at all interested in running for president.”

The 2016 hopeful also used one of the choices to take a jab at the magazine itself: “He just answered “yes” to the question ‘Are the New Republic editors objective?'”

TNR’s full profile of the senator can be found here.
