Pope Francis on Friday confessed his sins in public while he was leading a penitential liturgy in St. Peter’s Basilica, according to the Catholic News Service.
When Pope Francis and the priests participating in the service went to hear confessions, the Pope went instead to confess to a priest.
The pope confessed his sins with his back to onlookers, making it impossible to see or hear his confession.
He then listened to the confessions of others for about 40minutes, according to the Catholic News Service.
