After the Texas police officer who slammed a 15-year-old girl to the ground resigned on Tuesday, the McKinney, Texas, police chief called the officer’s actions “indefensible.”
Officer David Eric Casebolt responded to a call about a “disturbance” at a community pool on Friday, where he was shown on video pushing the 15-year-old girl and drawing his gun on other teenagers in the area.
“He came into the call out of control, and as the video shows, was out of control during the incident. I had 12 officers on the scene, and 11 of them performed according to their training,” Police Chief Greg Conley said of Casebolt during a Tuesday press conference.
“I do not condone the actions of those individuals who violated the rules of the community, showed disrespect to the security person on scene, and to the officers who responded,” he continued. “However, we as a department are held to a high standard of action as we do our jobs.”
Conley said he did not yet know whether Casebolt would face charges over his actions. He also announced that the McKinney police dropped the charges against the one teenager who was arrested following the pool party.
According to the pool party hosts, a fight began when a white woman began hurling racial slurs at some of the party guests. McKinney police then responded to a complaint about a “disturbance involving multiple juveniles.”

How long before the slur hurling white woman gets her 15 minutes of fame touring Fox News shows, regaling all how she was pushed to her behavior by the unruly mob of “urban invaders” storming her community pool? Andrea Tantaros might climax in her chair getting that interview gig.
Well done. He didn’t equivocate about the mistakes of Casebolt, and pointed out the appropriate behavior of the majority of his officers. The stupidest thing would have been to circle the wagons, like the Ferguson cops did.
Now, wanna take a look and see if there’s any other bad apples in your force, Chief Conley?
Before, the police’s words and actions were taken as gospel truth. But as we’ve seen in cases like Scott (shot in the back), Rice (12 year old with BB gun), Garner, (choked to death) and McKinney, we see the officer’s actions can be heavy handed, unfair, ignorant and even deadly. And we would not have known had it not been for the video.
Not that it seems to matter since there will always be a certain segment of society that views certain minorities as animals deserving of being beaten. What’s odd is these same people rally against “jack booted thugs”, the government, and always talk about “free speech” and rights (ahemCliveBundyahem). I guess that only applies to some instances.
The officer appeared to be high on something to me.
