After Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton (D) signed a bill on Tuesday making it the latest state to legalize same-sex marriage, one of the busiest bridges in Minneapolis was illuminated to celebrate the new law.
The city announced on its Facebook page Tuesday that the I-35W bridge, which crosses the Mississippi River, would be lit like a rainbow “in recognition of marriage equality in Minnesota.”
Dayton signed the bill at an event on the lawn of the state capitol in St. Paul, Minn. that attracted more than 7,000 people, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported. Minnesota is now the 12th state to approve marriage equality.
