An attorney for Pete Rose said in a statement to NBC News Tuesday that the sports legend never sent a signed baseball to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
Trump tweeted Sunday that he had received a signed baseball from Rose:

Rose’s attorney, Ray Genco, said in the statement that he had made a point not to endorse a candidate.
“Though he respects everyone who works hard for our country — any outlet that misinterpreted a signed baseball for an endorsement was wrong,” Genco said in the statement. “Pete did not send any candidate a baseball or a note of endorsement.”
Maybe it was from one-time major leaguer Pete Rose, Jr.!

I’d rather see the signed baseball sent by Alice in Wonderland, Snow White, Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm, Santa Claus, the Groundhog Day groundhog, and the Easter Bunny. Now those endorsements would have carried Trumpy right into the White House. Or me.
