House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s office will release a video Friday morning attacking Speaker John Boehner as being “happy” about the spending cuts caused by sequestration, even though they are expected to hurt people’s livelihoods.

The video shows Boehner on a recent appearance on NBC’s “Meet the Press” saying that he is unsure whether sequestration will hurt the economy. It then cuts to an August 2011 interview with CBS in which Boehner says of the Budget Control Act, the law which set up sequestration as a fallback plan, “I got 98 percent of what I wanted. And I’m pretty happy.”

The video uses that “98 percent” quote throughout as it details the economic hardship the sequester is expected to bring. “At least someone’s happy,” text says at the end of the video.

“It’s not clear whether Speaker Boehner is happy about or unaware of the harmful economic impact of these devastating across-the-board spending costs that will cost us 750,000 American jobs,” Communications Director Drew Hammill said. “What the American people need from Speaker Boehner is a vote on a balanced plan to avert the sequester and not more out of touch soundbites.”
