Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) tweeted Wednesday that he’d consider Judge Merrick Garland, President Barack Obama’s Supreme Court Justice nominee, if he were nominated again by the next President.
Toomey previously said that “it’s not that big a deal” to leave the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat on the high court vacant.
Obama announced Wednesday morning from the White House’s Rose Garden that he was nominating Garland and called for a “fair” process that would allow the D.C. circuit court judge an interview and a vote in the Senate.
With the U.S. Supreme Court’s balance at stake, and with the presidential election fewer than eight months away… #SCOTUS

it is wise to give the American people a more direct voice in the selection and confirmation of the next justice. #SCOTUS

Should Merrick Garland be nominated again by the next president, I would be happy to carefully consider his nomination… #SCOTUS
