President Obama dined with 12 Republican senators at Jefferson Hotel in Washington on Wednesday night. In attendance, per the White House:

Senator Tom Coburn
Senator Richard Burr
Senator Mike Johanns
Senator Pat Toomey
Senator Ron Johnson
Senator John Hoeven
Senator Saxby Chambliss

“The President greatly enjoyed the dinner and had a good exchange of ideas with the Senators,” a senior administration official said, per a pool report. Obama also picked up the tab for the dinner, the White House said.

Sens. Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) joined a filibuster on the Senate floor of John Brennan, President Obama’s nominee to lead the Central Intelligence Agency, shortly before the dinner took place. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) is in the tenth hour of his filibuster of Brennan’s nomination, objecting to the administration’s policy on targeting killing.
