The U.S. is considering building a base for spy drones in north Africa to increase information gathering in areas where Islamist extremists pose a threat, the New York Times reported Monday. According to the Times, the most likely location for the base would be in Niger, which is east of Mali, where French and African forces are battling Islamist extremists in the north.
