A police officer in Pleasantville, N.Y. found out this week he will get to keep his job despite creating a “Coon Trapper” Facebook page where he posted a racist rant about wishing President Obama was dead.
Pleasantville’s Board of Trustees passed a resolution Monday that allowed the local police chief to discipline Officer Peter Burns with an approximately two-month suspension, sensitivity training, a psychological evaluation, the loss of vacation days, and a two year “last chance” probationary period, the Journal News reported.
Officer Burns apologized for the Facebook post, which he published on the “Coon Trapper” page on Dec. 11. According to the Journal News, Burns’ post included the N-word and indicated he wanted to see the president dead.
“The fact that he (Obama) is still alive bewilders me,” Burns wrote. “Go die in a shallow grave you Muslim commie.”
After the post was shown to the police chief, Burns was suspended. He deleted his Facebook page the next day.
