NRA Remains Mum On Sen. Jeff Flake’s Criticism

The National Rifle Association has remained silent this week in responding to a Republican senator who criticized the group’s proposal to force every public school in the nation to have someone armed on campus.

Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ) told Phoenix television station KTVK on Wednesday that he was “greatly troubled” by the proposal. The NRA endorsed Flake’s 2012 Senate bid and donated more than $320,000 to his campaign. NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre stumped for Flake in Arizona, and the group gave him its “A” rating.

TPM put in multiple requests for comment from the NRA, but the organization has not responded.
