Pentagon officials are operating under the assumption that the United States will launch an attack on Syria as early as this week or next week, NBC News’ Jim Miklaszewski reported on-air Tuesday.
“Officially, President Obama has not yet given the order to launch those attacks but I can tell you that officials here at the Pentagon are operating as if this is, in fact, a done deal and they expect attacks as early as perhaps the end of this week or early next week,” Miklaszewski, NBC’s chief Pentagon correspondent, said during an appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Miklaszewski said that there are four guided missile destroyers in the Mediterranean that are “all within easy range of all the targets [the U.S.] would want to hit inside Syria.”
