The liberal advocacy group MoveOn on Thursday endorsed Rep. Ed Markey (D-MA) in Massachusetts’ open U.S. Senate race, CNN reported.

MoveOn found 94 percent of its members in Massachusetts favored backing the progressive Markey in the race, little surprise given his Democratic opponent Rep. Stephen Lynch’s moderate record.

TPM reported last week that NARAL Pro-Choice America was throwing its weight behind Markey, who’s also won the support of the party’s national and in-state establishment.

The primary will be held April 30, while the special election is scheduled to be held June 25. Polls have shown Markey as a prohibitive favorite to win the Democratic nomination over Markey, as evidenced by the PollTracker Average.
