Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee (R) on Monday refused to back down from his comments comparing the Iran nuclear deal to the Holocaust, bashing President Obama for mocking Huckabee’s remarks.

“What’s ‘ridiculous and sad’ is that President Obama does not take Iran’s repeated threats seriously. For decades, Iranian leaders have pledged to ‘destroy,’ ‘annihilate,’ and ‘wipe Israel off the map’ with a ‘big Holocaust,'” Huckabee said in a Monday statement. “‘Never again’ will be the policy of my administration and I will stand with our ally Israel to prevent the terrorists in Tehran from achieving their own stated goal of another Holocaust.”

In an interview with Breitbart News on Saturday, Huckabee said that by agreeing to a nuclear deal with Iran, the Obama administration “will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the oven.”

Obama on Monday morning condemned Huckabee’s remarks, and said that the former governor’s comment was “part of just a general pattern that we’ve seen that would be considered ridiculous if it weren’t so sad.”

The President defended the Iran nuclear deal, calling out Republicans in Congress who quickly opposed the agreement.

“I have not yet heard a factual argument on the other side that holds up to scrutiny,” he said. “There’s a reason why 99 percent of the world thinks this is a good deal. It’s because it’s a good deal. So if you’re asking me how do you think our argument’s going, it’s going great.”
