Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly tried to get a good-natured laugh out of President Obama at a White House Christmas party earlier this month, but her joke didn’t quite land.
Kelly shared her awkward encounter the Obama Wednesday night on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” She recounted that after waiting in the receiving line, she and her husband had only a short amount of time to make an impression on the President and the First Lady.
“I had 30 seconds to get in and get out without embarrassing myself, and I blew it,” she said.
Kelly said Obama told her “the White House is a pretty fun place, isn’t it?”, to which she responded that it was and added “maybe we’ll be here in two years,” referring to herself and her husband.
“He looked at me like, ‘What?'” she said.
“It was like a joke that we were gonna run for office and we’d be in the White House in two years,” Kelly explained. “I think all he was thinking was, ‘Who is we? Oh, she’s with Fox News. Oh, I don’t like Fox News. Oh, that’s for Republicans, she must mean the Republicans! Is this a shot at me at my Christmas party?’”

Once again, Obama was clearly the adult in the room. There is no way at all the President spent more than 5 seconds thinking about Ms. Kelly’s comment. But of course she thinks she is so important that he would. It is also indicative that, despite the fact Ms. Kelly spews anti-Obama crap all the time, she did not hesitate to accept an invitation to the White House.
She typically doesn’t need more than 10 seconds in front of the camera to embarrass herself.
