In the wake of Monday’s massacre at the Washington Navy Yard, a spokesman for the gun control group led by Michael Bloomberg said the shooting “throws additional fuel on a fire already blazing pretty high.”
“I think the country and indeed the president have reached the tipping point not because of one mass shooting but because of an aggregate drip, drip, drip of more and more mass shootings,” Mark Glaze of Mayors Against Illegal Guns told Politico. “Every time this happens, it throws additional fuel on a fire already blazing pretty high.”
The shooting left 13 people, including the gunman, dead and prompted gun control advocates to speak out. Mark Kelly, the husband of former Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) and co-founder of Americans for Responsible Solutions, issued a statement to offer condolences to the victims.
