Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-LA) said the Senate should “say yes” to Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on the Keystone Pipeline legislation.
Landrieu said that, with enough help, there could be enough votes to pass legislation greenlighting the Keystone XL Pipeline project. Landrieu said she would propose unanimous consent to move the legislation forward.
“I believe that we should take the new majority leader at his word and stop blocking legislation that is broadly supported by the American public and has been for quite some time,” Landrieu said during a floor speech on Wednesday. “I want to say yes to majority leader — new Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The time to start is now.”
McConnell is expected to be elected Senate Majority Leader when Republicans take control of the chamber in the 114th Congress.
Senate Democratic leadership is also considering whether to hold a vote to approve the Keystone pipeline.
Landrieu’s comments come as she faces a tough runoff battle in her fight for re-election against Rep. Bill Cassidy (R-LA). House Republicans signaled that they wouldn’t be outmaneuvered by Landrieu on her pipeline move.
So House Republicans are re-raising Landrieu on Keystone. House now expected to vote on a Bill Cassidy Keystone XL bill tomorrow.

She’s an idiot tool for Big Oil: “With 43,000 jobs and a more energy-independent America on the line, this new study underscores what has been said all along about Keystone XL Pipeline: it’s time to build,” said Sen. Landrieu.”
Doesn’t matter if she is or is not an idiot. The Keystone XL pipeline will go through. Obama tried to delay and delay it and he did a very good job. Even if we did manage to block it now, it will be undone when the repukes take over. No matter what, the oil companies would find a way to get it passed.
The fix is in folks. Climate change is here, nothing will get done and future generations are totally fucked.
Since we don’t need Landrieu’s vote to keep Reid as Majority Leader, and we can be sure she’ll vote with Republicans to break any filibusters Democrats may mount or override any vetoes that Obama may throw out over the next two years, why should any Democrat give a flying fuck whether or not she wins?
I think I am with you. Isn’t Mary Landrieu supposed to be one of the main influences on the President to delay his immigration executive action until after the election? That worked out so well, right?
