Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) praised his former Republican presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) as “the only conservative left in the race” in a Wednesday call with supporters in Minnesota.
Rubio didn’t explicitly endorse Cruz in the call but railed against the media for sinking his campaign, in part by hailing Cruz as “the strongest anti-Trump alternative.”
“This election was entirely driven by national media coverage, in many ways,” he said, according to the Pioneer Press. “When the media narrative goes negative on you, and all the news is bad, it kind of knocks us off.”
He continued: “When the media is constantly telling you, ‘So-and-so is winning and so-and-so is losing,’ it impacts voters.”
Rubio also told his Minnesota supporters he “saw the bottom fall out of our support” after winning the state’s March 1 caucus, one of only three contests he won during the 2016 race.
While he said internal polling showed him “closing fast” on Donald Trump in Florida, Rubio suspended his campaign after losing his home state primary by almost 20 points.
Yeah, it couldn’t be that he was a weak candidate with an undistinguished resume, no history of actually accomplishing anything in the Senate, and a series of views that are best described as “conservatism lite.” It had to be the media’s fault.
Damn dude. Cruz? Seriously? If you were walking through a field with only one pile of cow-flop in the whole field, you’d find it and step right in it, soiling your shiny little boot.
I suppose fluffer wages pay the bills.
Rubio directed his supporters to vote for Kasich in Ohio. Kasich did not return the favor for Rubio in Florida. This is the result.
I agree that Cruz is the only conservative left in the Republican race…but Cruz is a dangerous conservative whose dominionism is all for religious liberty except if you are other than Christian. Cruz fancies himself as the anointed one. But for Christian the only anointed one is Jesus.
