Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) released a statement Monday announcing his candidacy for chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

“I am proud to announce my candidacy for Chair of the Democratic National Committee,” Ellison wrote, as quoted by Politico. “If given the opportunity to serve, I will work tirelessly to make the Democratic Party an organization that brings us together and advances an agenda that improves people’s lives.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) already threw their support behind Ellison in the week following Election Day.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) also backed Ellison earlier Monday. He released a statement describing Ellison as a “terrific leader and a strong progressive who knows how to get things done.”
