Comedian John Oliver parodied Oregon’s twee Obamacare ads on Sunday’s premiere of his new HBO show “Last Week Tonight” as he ranted about how the state spent a quarter of a billion dollars on a health care website that didn’t work.

Oliver railed at the state for spending $248 million on its “shitty” website, which failed to sign up a single resident for an insurance plan before the open-enrollment period ended on March 31. The Obama administration is now taking over enrollment in the state.

But Oliver pointed out that not all of those taxpayer dollars were spent on a broken website — $3 million of it went to “violently adorable” advertisements.

“We get it Oregon, you people live in a cartoon. Your mountains are breathtaking, your coffee is fair trade, and everywhere you go you hear the sound of fucking ukuleles,” he said. “You’ve made your point, but here’s the thing. This is all very charming until you waste tens of millions of dollars of taxpayer money on a website that doesn’t work.”

So Oliver had indie icon Lisa Loeb remake the twee Cover Oregon advertisement in front of a backdrop that read “you fucking idiots.”

“You stupid Oregon idiots, you human Pinterest boards,” she sang, “your passion for cuteness might kill your whole state. So long, Oregon.”

Will he pick on the many states which didn’t even try to help its citizens? Georgia is a great one to start with. No expanded Medicaid but we can carry guns into bars. Now how are those poor suckers supposed to pay for gun shot removal without state aid?
