Former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle reportedly told one of the sandwich chain’s female franchisees in a text message that he paid for sex with a 16-year-old girl he found on Craigslist.

Business Insider reported on the text message exchange late Friday. An anonymous attorney for the female franchisee, who no longer works with Subway, told the news site that the FBI recently subpoenaed his law office for his client’s text-message conversations with Fogle. A spokeswoman for the FBI would not confirm or deny the subpoena to the news site.

The report comes nearly a month after federal authorities raided Fogle’s Zionsville, Indiana home. While authorities did not comment on the nature of the raid, it took place a little more than two months after the then-executive director of Fogle’s childhood obesity charity was arrested on child pornography charges.

Subway dropped Fogle as its spokesman after the raid. Fogle has not been charged with any crime.

The former spokesman repeatedly asked the former Subway franchisee to advertise herself on Craigslist in their text-message conversations, according to Business Insider, which reviewed the messages. Fogle’s alleged solicitation of the 16-year-old girl came up in a conversation dated July 19, 2008, after he’d asked the former franchisee to advertise herself:

FRANCHISEE: “Is this the same website you found that 16 year old girl you that you f*****? …I still can’t believe you only paid $100 for her.”

FOGLE: “It was amazing!!!!”

FRANCHISEE: “What part of her ad made you think she was selling sex?”

FOGLE: “U will have to read them to see.”

The former franchisee’s attorney told Business Insider that his client alerted Subway management about the text messages and her concerns about Fogle being around young people. Subway told the news site that it had no record of the allegation.

Fogle’s attorney, Ron Elberger, did not respond to the news site’s requests for comment.
