Five New Delhi men were formally charged Monday with abducting, raping and murdering a 23-year-old Indian woman, the BBC reported. Another suspect, who is a minor, is expected to be tried in a juvenile court, according to the report.
Two of the suspects, according to Reuters, applied to become informants against the other suspects, in exchange for a lighter sentence.
The woman, a physiotherapy student, was allegedly gang raped on a New Delhi bus on Dec. 16 after seeing a movie with a male friend. She died two weeks later at a hospital in Singapore.
