The Illinois state senate passed a same-sex marriage bill Tuesday evening by a margin of 32-21, sending the legislation to the governor’s desk mere hours after lawmakers in the House approved the measure.

Gov. Pat Quinn (D) has said that he will sign the bill.

Illinois would become the 15th state to legalize same-sex marriage.
