At the NBC debate, Jon Huntsman was asked why he and all the other candidates did not raise their hands at a previous debate months ago, when they were asked whether they would accept a deal calling for a ten-to-one ratio of spending cuts to tax increases.
In response, Huntsman objected that the whole question was a “silly format” that gave candidates no opportunities to explain their position. He then began discussing his own economic plan, and the need to deal with the debt problem.
