Two economics experts at the conservative Heritage Institute called House Republicans’ counter offer in fiscal cliff negotiations Monday a “dud” in a posting on the Heritage blog Monday evening.

From Heritage’s Alison Acosta Fraser, director of the Roe Institute for Economic Policy Studies, and J.D. Foster, a senior fellow in the economics of fiscal policy:

“[T]he Republican counteroffer, to the extent it can be interpreted from the hazy details now available, is a dud. It is utterly unacceptable. It is bad policy, bad economics, and, if we may say so, highly questionable as a negotiating tactic.”
