Democrat Heidi Heitkamp has narrowly defeated Republican Rep. Rick Berg in a race to replace retiring Sen. Kent Conrad (D-ND). The margin in the race remains small enough — just shy of 3000 votes and less than one percent — that Berg could request a recount.
